In this episode of ‘Urja Badlav’, Hridayesh Joshi speaks to energy expert Vibhuti Garg, who is Director, South Asia with the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis, and Roli Srivastava, a senior journalist who works with Thomson Reuters Foundation on issues such as Just Transition, gender, inclusive economy, etc. They discuss the role and importance of renewable energy in India’s energy transition. The guests discussed India’s present installed capacity of renewable energy, mainly solar and wind, and the country’s 2030 target of 450,000 MW installed capacity of renewable energy. They also discussed the social and environmental aspects of renewable energy in India.

Just Transition - Sixth Episode

In the sixth episode of ‘Urja Badlav’, Hridayesh Joshi speaks to Dr Ajay Mathur, International Solar Alliance’s Director General, and Swati Dsouza, who works with the International Energy Agency as India Analyst and Coordinator. They discuss about the emphasis on Just Energy Transition in the New Delhi declaration at the just concluded G20 summit. They discuss how international cooperation is an important and integral component of India’s energy transition journey and what it means as the country prepares for CoP28 in Dubai later this year. The guests also examined the lessons that India can draw from energy transition efforts elsewhere in world and the scope of international cooperation to drive India’s energy transition.
